About The Position

The Cashier is responsible for checking out customers’ merchandise through POS registers and performing customer service activities. The role includes greeting and acknowledging customers promptly and in a friendly manner, handling merchandise with care, and helping ensure a pleasant and productive shopping experience. Cashiers assist customers with purchasing decisions by identifying and evaluating their needs, recommending products, and promoting programs such as CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up. They also remain knowledgeable about products and advertised sales, and stock and straighten nearby shelves and pegs when not operating a register. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change.
• Ability to communicate with customers and associates in a friendly and professional manner.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale register system.

Responsibilities

• Check out customers’ merchandise through POS registers.

• Approach customers in a friendly and outgoing manner and handle merchandise with care.
• Maintain product knowledge and awareness of advertised sales.
• Stock and straighten shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not ringing up merchandise.
• Identify and evaluate customer needs and make product recommendations.
• Promote programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
