About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate welcomes customers, operates the register accurately and efficiently, provides friendly service, and may upsell products to increase sales. The role includes learning and complying with legal requirements for lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales. Associates help maintain a clean, safe, and inviting store indoors and outdoors, including cleaning restrooms and gas pumps, removing litter and trash in all weather, stocking merchandise, and maintaining floors, windows, and entryways. The position may involve cross-training in other departments, including deli, and helping wherever needed. Candidates should be prepared to work on their feet for most of their shift and indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Both full-time and part-time schedules are available.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be willing to work hard and remain on their feet for most of the shift.
- Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Must have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Should be personable and positive, detail-oriented, reliable, responsible, and flexible.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and quickly.
- Learn lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales and follow age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly customer service and upsell when possible.
- Keep the interior and exterior of the store clean and safe.
- Deep clean restrooms and sanitize gas pumps, including nozzles, screens, and water buckets.
- Pick up litter and trash from floors and the lot, and take trash to the dumpster in all weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain entryways.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Help team members and step in wherever needed.
