About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate greets and assists customers, operates the register, supports sales, and helps keep the store clean, safe, stocked, and running smoothly. The role includes indoor and outdoor cleaning duties, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, entryways, and the parking lot, in all weather conditions. Associates may be cross-trained in other departments, including deli, and are expected to follow safety procedures, company policies, and applicable requirements for lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be willing to work on their feet for most of the shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
• Must have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
• Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
• Friendly, positive demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
• Attention to detail.
• Reliability, punctuality, and responsibility.
• Flexibility and willingness to perform varied duties in a fast-paced environment.

• Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
• Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
• Provide friendly customer service and upsell when possible.
• Clean and maintain indoor and outdoor store areas, including high-use restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and the parking lot.
• Pick up litter and trash and take trash to the dumpster in all weather conditions.
• Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
• Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
• Support coworkers and help wherever needed.
