About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate provides friendly, accurate customer service while operating the register, supporting sales, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked store. The role includes cleaning restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and outdoor areas; handling trash in all weather; and cross-training in other departments, including deli, as needed. Team members are expected to follow safety procedures and company policies, help colleagues where needed, and be prepared to spend most of their shift on their feet, working indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions. Full-time and part-time schedules are available. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, available to work weekends and holidays, and pass the applicable pre-employment screening.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be willing to work on one's feet for most of a shift and indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Ability to frequently lift 10 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Friendly, positive demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
- Attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, trustworthiness, adaptability, and willingness to perform a variety of tasks.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly service and upsell when possible to increase sales.
- Keep the interior and exterior of the store clean and safe, including deep-cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, and picking up litter.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep merchandise full and presentable.
- Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain entryways and overall store organization.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Support the team and assist wherever needed.
