About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, inviting, safe, and running smoothly while serving customers. The role includes operating the register, assisting with sales, maintaining merchandise, and performing extensive cleaning both inside and outside the store, including restrooms, gas pumps, and the parking lot. Associates may be asked to cross-train in other departments, including deli, and help wherever needed. This position requires working weekends and holidays, spending most of the shift on one's feet, and working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Candidates must be at least 18, communicate effectively in English, have basic math skills, and be able to meet the stated lifting requirements. Retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Must be prepared to work on one's feet for most of the shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
Basic math skills are required, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
Friendly, positive demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
Attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, trustworthiness, adaptability, and willingness to perform varied tasks.
Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
Provide friendly customer service and upsell when appropriate.
Clean and maintain the inside and outside of the store, including high-use restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and parking lot areas.
Remove litter and trash and take trash to the dumpster in all weather conditions.
Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep merchandise full and presentable.
Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
Follow safety procedures and company policies.
Work as part of the team and assist wherever needed.
