About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate provides customer service and operates the register while helping keep the store clean, safe, stocked, and inviting. The role includes frequent cleaning indoors and outdoors, including restrooms, gas pumps, store floors, windows, entryways, and parking-lot areas. Associates handle merchandise stocking, comply with legal requirements for age-restricted sales, and may cross-train in other departments, including deli. The position requires working on your feet and in outdoor conditions in all kinds of weather, and helping wherever needed in a fast-paced retail environment.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be willing to work hard and remain on your feet for most of the shift.
- Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Friendly, positive demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
- Attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly customer service and upsell when appropriate.
- Clean and maintain the inside and outside of the store, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and lot areas.
- Collect litter and trash and take trash to the dumpster in all weather conditions.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Work as a team member and assist wherever needed.
