About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate helps the store run smoothly by serving customers, operating the register, maintaining merchandise, and keeping the store and surrounding areas clean and safe. The role includes cleaning restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and the parking lot, as well as taking out trash in all weather conditions. Associates may cross-train in other departments, including the deli, and are expected to support the team wherever needed. Applicants should be comfortable working indoors and outdoors, staying on their feet for most of a shift, and handling a variety of tasks in a fast-paced retail environment.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and standing for most of a shift.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Must have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Must be friendly, positive, detail-oriented, reliable, responsible, and adaptable.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly customer service and upsell when possible.
- Clean and maintain the store and surrounding areas, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and the parking lot.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Cross-train in other departments, including the deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Support coworkers and assist wherever needed.
