About The Position

Chit Chat Diner in Hackensack, New Jersey, is seeking enthusiastic, professional, and service-oriented Hosts/Cashiers to support an elevated diner experience. This front-of-house role helps create a seamless guest experience by welcoming and seating guests, managing transactions, and coordinating takeout and dessert orders. The position also includes preparing coffee, specialty beverages, and alcoholic drinks; maintaining beverage and guest-service areas; and collaborating with the restaurant team. Candidates should be personable, detail-oriented, dependable, and able to maintain a positive, professional attitude in a high-energy environment. Beverage and bartending experience may be useful, while familiarity with beverage preparation or willingness to learn is noted.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with coffee preparation, specialty beverages, and drink presentation, or willingness to learn.
Experience preparing cocktails, mixed drinks, and other alcoholic beverages is preferred for candidates assigned bartending duties.

Responsibilities

Greet guests warmly, manage seating efficiently, and maintain a balanced flow of service to support waitstaff.
Operate the register, process transactions accurately, and provide courteous, professional service.
Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based beverages, and other hot and cold drinks according to established recipes and presentation standards.
Prepare specialty beverages, signature drinks, and featured drinks with attention to quality, consistency, presentation, and accuracy.
Prepare and serve alcoholic beverages, including cocktails and mixed drinks, following recipes, responsible alcohol-service practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked beverage stations, coffee equipment, and bar areas throughout each shift.
Answer phone calls, accurately enter takeout orders, and ensure orders are processed promptly and efficiently.
Process dine-in and takeout dessert orders for servers and guests, ensuring accuracy and timely service.
Keep the register, host station, beverage preparation areas, and surrounding workspaces clean, organized, and presentable.
Clean menus regularly and update daily specials and menu inserts as needed.
Monitor restroom supplies and ensure they remain properly stocked.
Monitor supplies of coffee, beverage ingredients, glassware, bar supplies, and other necessary items; restock as needed.
Communicate effectively with servers, managers, kitchen staff, bartenders, and fellow team members to support smooth daily operations.
Assist with other front-of-house and beverage-service responsibilities as needed to maintain restaurant standards.
