About The Position

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is seeking Full Time Case Worker Aides for their Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) Program in Jersey City, NJ. This role involves providing in-home and community-based crisis de-escalation, intervention, stabilization, and case management services to families and children experiencing escalating behavioral and/or emotional issues. Services range from 72 hours up to 8 weeks, with interventions determined by individualized service needs. The Case Worker Aide assists with discharge and transition planning, including referrals and linkages to appropriate services. Calls are received through a centralized screening entity, and the Case Worker Aide must respond within one hour as a second person. The program operates 24/7/365.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Social Work related field
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Understands the developmental needs of youth and the special needs of the population being served.
  • Has at minimum, an understanding of crisis deescalation, conflict resolution and behavior management techniques.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and self management skills.
  • Can effectively and professionally work in a fast paced environment and high stress/crisis situations.
  • Can work in a focused and professional manner in community based and home based settings.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to expand that network.
  • Good interpersonal skills and judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize requirements of position and complete on time.
  • Ability to effectively work with referral source, community partners, and informal and formal supports in the child/family's life.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times whether in the office or in the field.
  • Ability to conduct community interventions within a one-hour travel area.
  • Ability to manage high stress situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of Hudson County is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides in-home and community-based crisis de-escalation and intervention.

  • Assists the Case Worker or Clinician during discharge/transition with services, including referral and linkages to appropriate services and supports.
  • Responds to calls within one hour, as a second person, after calls are received and information documented by a centralized screening entity.
  • Conducts community interventions within a one-hour travel area.
  • Identifies, plans for, and responds to potentially unsafe situations with good judgment and professionalism.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times whether in the office or in the field.
