About The Position
Visiting Angels Des Moines provides non-medical in-home care for seniors and adults with disabilities in Des Moines, West Des Moines, Urbandale, Grimes, Johnston, Clive, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill and Altoona. We help people keep living in the homes they love, with care that’s reliable and compassionate.
Requirements
- Some real, hands-on experience caring for another person. Your own kids, a spouse, a parent, a grandparent or a neighbor all count.
- You know what caring for someone really involves, so you walk in ready.
Responsibilities
- Helping someone bathe, dress and use the bathroom with their dignity intact
- Making a warm meal and sitting down to share it
- Giving a gentle reminder to take medications
- Walking beside someone so they don’t fall, and keeping their home safe
- Folding laundry, tidying up and running errands so they can stay independent
- Staying patient and kind with clients living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, especially on the hard days
- Being someone to talk to. For some clients, you’ll be the only face they see all day.
