Haven Home Care is hiring caregivers to provide nonmedical assistance to mostly older adults in their homes in Summit County, Ohio. Care includes bathing, dressing, meal preparation, light cleaning, errands, companionship, and helping clients move around. Caregivers do not administer medication or perform medical tasks. The work is physical and involves being on your feet much of the day. Applicants who need help performing these tasks are encouraged to discuss what may work for them. Most care takes place between 8 AM and 5 PM, with many shifts lasting 2–6 hours; there are no overnight shifts. Caregivers set their available days and times during a phone interview, and Haven Home Care matches clients to that window and the caregiver’s stated limits, such as travel distance, pets, and smoking. More restrictive availability may mean a smaller matching pool and a longer wait. During the first two weeks, the company gauges reliability through fill-in shifts, unless a permanent-client match is available sooner. Most caregivers have 2–4 regular clients and may choose additional fill-in shifts. Shifts may last 2–3, 4–6, or 8 hours; reaching 20 or more hours per week will usually involve serving several clients across different days. The position requires at least 20 hours of work per week and availability between 6 AM and 8 PM, with the caregiver choosing their available window. The job is paid as W-2 employment, every two weeks by direct deposit. Drive time between clients is paid; travel to the first client and home from the last client is unpaid. Pay depends on qualifications: $18 per hour for STNAs; $16–$18 per hour for HHA certificate holders or qualifying experienced caregivers; and $16 per hour for caregivers entering through the free training pathway. Referred private-pay clients may qualify for higher rates. Holiday work pays an additional 10%. Performance raises are available at 90 days, one year, and two years, subject to attendance criteria. Additional incentives include an attendance bonus and referral bonuses. Applicants can qualify through an active or expired STNA credential, a qualifying HHA certificate, at least one year of caregiving experience at one company under an RN or LPN, or free 32-hour online training for those without experience. The hiring process includes a phone conversation, an online questionnaire, a test if needed, online paperwork, online orientation and document review, and fingerprinting. Ohio-required HHA written and skills tests are taken in person at the company’s Cuyahoga Falls office; STNAs and applicants with acceptable prior HHA test results may skip the test. The role is in Summit County, Ohio, including Akron, Barberton, Copley, Cuyahoga Falls, Hartville, Hudson, Kent, New Franklin, Norton, Rootstown, Silver Lake, Stow, Tallmadge, and Uniontown. Haven Home Care has operated in Ohio since 1998 and is an Equal Opportunity Employer and E-Verify participant. The posting states that the position does not include PTO, a 401(k), or health insurance.
