Haven Home Care is hiring caregivers to provide nonmedical assistance to people in their homes, primarily older adults, in Summit County, Ohio. Work is generally scheduled between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with many shifts lasting 2–6 hours; no overnight shifts are offered. Caregivers provide availability and client preferences, and the company matches clients to those limits. More restrictive availability or preferences can reduce the pool of matching clients and lengthen the time before a schedule is filled. Caregivers typically have 2–4 regular clients and may accept additional fill-in shifts. The role requires working at least 20 hours per week, with availability within 6 a.m.–8 p.m. Caregivers are paid every two weeks by direct deposit as W-2 employees. Drive time between clients is paid; travel to the first client and home from the last client is not. Holiday work pays an additional 10%. The role has no PTO, 401(k), or health insurance. Applicants can qualify with an active or expired STNA license, a qualifying HHA certificate, verified relevant experience, or Haven Home Care’s free 32-hour online training. Training for candidates without experience is online, takes six days to complete, and is unpaid. Depending on the qualification path, the hiring process may include a written and skills test at the Cuyahoga Falls office; Ohio requires HHA test scores of at least 80% on both parts. STNAs and applicants who can provide qualifying prior test results can skip the test. The process also includes a phone conversation, online questionnaire, online paperwork, online orientation and document check, and fingerprinting. Candidates must have a driver’s license, their own insured car with coverage for work driving, pass background checks, have legal authorization to work in the United States, and be at least 18 years old.
