Caregiver - $1500 Sign-On Bonus
About The Position
Dungarvin is hiring a Direct Support Professional/Caregiver to provide person-centered support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, complex medical needs, and physical disabilities. The role focuses on helping individuals live as independently and comfortably as possible while preserving their dignity and respect. Some individuals supported may experience mental health or behavioral challenges, including verbal or physical aggression and emotional distress, requiring patience, sound judgment, and crisis-management skills. The caregiver provides hands-on assistance, positive direction, instruction, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance. The role also involves supporting daily living activities, maintaining individuals’ comfort and safety, and assisting with personal growth. Multiple shifts are available. The hourly wage is $17.00–$20.00.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Be comfortable driving to transport individuals served as required.
- Some positions or locations may require use of a personal vehicle and auto liability insurance.
- Be person-centered, patient, and kind.
- Be dependable, adaptable, and flexible.
- Be observant and detail-oriented.
- Serve as a positive role model and be able to work on a team.
- Be committed to creating a respectful and collaborative environment.
- Have computer skills for documentation.
- Have reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members.
- Successfully pass a background clearance as part of onboarding and employment.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical.
- Prior experience in IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with disabilities.
- Offer hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
- Support the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals served.
- Assist with daily living tasks, including mobility, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
- Transport individuals served as required.
- Document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with internal and external team members.
