About The Position

Dungarvin is hiring a Direct Support Professional/Caregiver to provide person-centered support to people with mental, intellectual and developmental, and physical disabilities. The role aims to empower individuals to live as independently and comfortably as possible while preserving their dignity and respect. Some people supported may experience significant mental health or behavioral challenges, including verbal or physical aggression and emotional distress, so the caregiver needs patience, sound judgment, and effective crisis-management skills. Multiple shifts are available, and the wage is $17.00–$20.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must be comfortable driving to transport persons served as required.
• Some positions or locations may require a personal vehicle and auto liability insurance.
• Person-centered, patient, and kind.

• Observant and detail-oriented.
• Able to serve as a positive role model and work on a team.
• Committed to creating a respectful and collaborative environment.
• Computer skills for documentation.
• Reading, writing, and communication skills sufficient to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members.
• Successful background clearance required as part of onboarding/employment.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical.
• Prior IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with disabilities.
• Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
• Support the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals served.
• Assist with daily living tasks, including mobility, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with internal and external team members.
• Transport persons served as required.
