About The Position

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) caregiver provides direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with mental, intellectual and developmental, and physical disabilities. The goal is to empower people to live as independently and comfortably as possible while maintaining their dignity and respect. Some people supported experience significant mental health or behavioral challenges, including verbal or physical aggression and emotional distress, requiring patience, sound judgment, and effective crisis-management skills. Multiple shifts are available.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Valid driver's license required because the role involves transporting persons served.
• Must be comfortable driving to transport persons served as required.
• Some positions or locations may require a personal vehicle and auto liability insurance.
• Person-centered, patient, and kind.

• Observant and detail oriented.
• Positive role model who can work on a team.
• Committed to creating a respectful and collaborative environment.
• Computer skills for documentation.
• Reading, writing, and communication skills sufficient to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience with intense behavioral challenges, including verbal and physical behaviors.
• Prior experience in IDD, mental health, psychiatric, or security work is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
• Support the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals served.
• Assist with daily living tasks, including mobility, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Transport persons served as required.
• Document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with internal and external team members.
