This position is open to Alaskan Residents only. This position will be filled at either the 1, 2, or 3 level, depending on the applicant's qualifications and job experience. The Care Facility Licensing Surveyor (CFLS) will oversee and support Alaska’s licensed Assisted Living Homes. The role involves conducting licensing inspections, processing new facility applications, evaluating modification and variance requests, and carrying out investigations to ensure compliance with state regulations. Additionally, the position provides technical assistance to help homes create safe, supportive environments for residents. The CFLS 1 is a trainee level where the individual receives formal on-the-job training and progressively takes on more responsibility. The CFLS 2 is the journey level where the individual works independently and performs the full range of duties. The CFLS 3 is the advanced level for experienced surveyors who lead investigations of complex, specialized, controversial, or sensitive cases. Residential Licensing’s mission is to protect Alaska’s most vulnerable citizens and promote public confidence in health care and community services through regulation, enforcement, and education. This is achieved by inspecting adult residential facilities for compliance, investigating complaints involving abuse, financial exploitation, or health and safety concerns, issuing notices of violation, and ensuring background checks are completed for service providers with direct client access. This position directly supports this mission by overseeing the licensing and standards of adult residential care homes and facilities across Alaska.
