About The Position

A Care Attendant provides basic patient care and helps maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment under the guidance of nurses and physicians. The role includes assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, feeding, toileting, moving, and repositioning. Care Attendants also perform safety checks, observe patients and report changes in condition to the nurse, and provide companionship and supervision when needed.

Other duties include stocking supplies, delivering meals and water, distributing patient mail, and supporting clerical tasks and communication within the healthcare team. Care Attendants follow hospital policies, maintain professionalism, adhere to safety guidelines, and respond to emergencies within the scope of the role.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 clearances, with renewal.
• If the applicant has no previous patient care training, successful completion of the UPMC care attendant/sitter training program.
