The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC. The office of the AMS Vice President, Academic and University Affairs is responsible for a diverse portfolio that addresses student representation to the university as well as academic policy and university governance. The Campaigns and Events Coordinator will assist in practical and administrative duties such as issues-based student and university-aimed campaigns, campus engagement strategies and other initiatives. The position is best suited to a candidate with significant self-motivation, and an interest in student engagement with university and academic issues. Experience in marketing and promotions, and event and campaign-planning is required. The candidate will work closely with the VP Academic and University Affairs Office Volunteers, the Associate Vice-president Academic, the Associate Vice-president University Affairs, and the Vice-President Academic & University Affairs to engage and consult students, and plan advocacy campaigns with the University.
