About The Position
The Cafe Team / Barista is a customer-facing role in Go Get Em Tiger’s retail coffeehouses, focused on serving drinks and food and creating welcoming customer experiences. Team members prepare coffee and other drinks, serve food, bus tables, run food, wash dishes, and maintain a clean workspace. The role requires engaging, knowledgeable, kind, and hospitable service to customers and coworkers. The company provides training in the technical skills needed for barista work, so prior field experience is not necessary. Employees pool tips, which are added to their paychecks; the posting estimates total hourly earnings at about $25 with tips, often more, including a baseline of $7 per hour in tips. The role is full-time and hourly, with a starting wage of $18.42 per hour plus tips.
Requirements
- Genuine interest and excitement in coffee, food, and hospitality.
- Desire to grow community and share things you love.
- Willingness to work hard as part of a team and do things the right way.
- Basic math ability.
- Weekend availability and overall schedule flexibility.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- A California Food Handler’s Certification, or willingness to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to move about the cafe frequently during a shift.
- Ability to operate job-related tools, such as coffee brewers and espresso machines.
- Ability to communicate and converse with customers throughout a shift.
- Ability to frequently move coffee, food, or merchandise in bins weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to taste coffee throughout a shift for quality control, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Provide kind, engaging, knowledgeable, positive, and honest service to customers and coworkers.
- Serve guests promptly and provide excellent hospitality.
- Build and improve skills in daily coffeebar operations, including customer service, coffee brewing, espresso extraction, drink finishing, food service, dishwashing, and general cleaning.
- Handle cash and card transactions and accurately maintain the till.
- Assist with inventory and internal ordering of goods.
- Stay up to date on menu offerings.
- Take pride in and maintain the condition of the workspace.
- Taste coffee throughout the shift for quality control.
