About The Position

The Server Assistant supports dining room operations by setting up and clearing tables, stocking service stations, and assisting food servers with table service to promote guest satisfaction. The role requires sound judgment, initiative, attention to accuracy and detail, and adherence to company and department policies, procedures, and supervisory directives. Duties may change as management determines necessary to meet the needs of Moody Gardens.

The position is part-time at Hotel 30 in Galveston, Texas. The stated pay range is $8.00 per hour. The shift is listed as “Any,” and no travel is required.

Requirements

• Must be reliable and responsible.
• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
• Must know appropriate table settings and service ware.
• Must be able to read, listen, and communicate in English verbally and in writing.
• Must obtain TABC and Food Handlers certifications before beginning work.
• Must be able to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise transport up to 50 pounds through a crowded room.
• Must be able to move or push goods on a hand cart weighing a maximum of 200 pounds.
• Must be able to stand and/or walk continuously throughout the shift.
• Must be able to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling.

Nice To Haves

• Prior hospitality or server experience is preferred.
• Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Quickly clear dirty table settings and prepare tables for resetting.
• Promptly and consistently reset service ware according to standards.
• Maintain the stock and cleanliness of stations for all meal periods, including necessary equipment such as silverware, linen, and condiments.
• Serve guests beverages, bread, and butter at the start of their dining experience and replenish them as necessary.
• Transport dirty tableware from the dining room to the dishwashing area for proper cleaning.
• Fold napkins throughout the day to maintain an adequate supply for all meal periods.
• Perform other duties as assigned; duties may change as management deems necessary to serve Moody Gardens’ needs.
