About The Position

The Cafe Host supports safe and efficient food and beverage operations at Newport Aquarium by following Herschend Enterprises' Core Values and Newport Aquarium's guest experience standards, policies, procedures, and safety protocols. The role welcomes guests, offers assistance and aquarium information, maintains a positive and professional appearance, and helps ensure guest and team satisfaction. The host maintains store cleanliness in accordance with food safety guidelines and follows Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance requirements. The position requires a reliable, self-motivated team member who can work independently, adapt calmly to changes or stressful situations, and may cross-train in other food and beverage areas. The work environment is described as energetic, innovative, and respectful. This is a part-time, year-round role with a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays; weekday availability is sought.

Requirements

• Complete a pre-employment background check successfully.
• Have strong public speaking skills and the ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Think clearly and react quickly and calmly to changes or stressful situations.
• Remain stationary for long periods, ascend and descend stairs, and bend and stoop.
• Be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Be able to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays; weekday availability is sought.

Responsibilities

• Follow and implement Herschend Enterprises' Core Values and Newport Aquarium guest experience standards, policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Maintain a positive attitude and appearance and meet aquarium uniform and appearance standards.
• Approach guests in a friendly manner, offer assistance, and provide information about Newport Aquarium.
• Arrive on time and ready to work all scheduled shifts.
• Prioritize safety while working at Newport Aquarium.
• Work independently and demonstrate self-motivation, discipline, and reliability.
• Maintain appropriate guest and team member relations and support guest and team satisfaction.
• Provide strong customer service and interpersonal support.
• Maintain store cleanliness in accordance with food safety guidelines.
• Maintain Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance.
• Use a friendly, respectful, outgoing, and proactive approach with guests and team members.
• Perform other related duties or projects as assigned by the Food and Beverage management team.
• Be willing and able to cross-train in other food and beverage areas.
• Contribute to a satisfying, enjoyable, and energetic work environment.
