About The Position

The Café Supervisor & Lead Barista will oversee the daily operations of Café 1967, located in the lobby of the Sandman Signature Winnipeg Airport Hotel & Suites. Open each morning to serve hotel guests, the café requires team members who are personable, professional, and committed to delivering exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will project a positive image of the café, respond effectively to guest needs and special requests, and act as a brand ambassador by consistently providing a high-quality, memorable experience for all guests.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a barista, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership capacity preferred
  • Strong knowledge of coffee brewing methods and café operations
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively
  • Availability to work early morning shifts, plus weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Valid Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures, food and beverage preparation, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment.
  • Craft a range of high-quality specialty coffee drinks and light food offerings with consistency and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels, place regular supply orders, and ensure proper stock rotation and waste reduction.
  • Manage scheduling and daily coordination for yourself and one additional team member, always ensuring coverage and high service standards.
  • Provide courteous, professional service to all guests, creating positive and efficient customer experience aligned with the hotel’s brand.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system, manage cash and credit transactions, and complete end-of-day reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, maintaining sanitation standards and food handling procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with hotel leadership to ensure alignment with guest service expectations and operational goals.
