About The Position

The Café Associate supports the dining operation serving students, staff and guests of The Ohio State University; greets and serves customers; operates coffee equipment, makes gourmet coffee and specialty drinks; prepares and handles food and beverage orders; collects payment by credit or Buck ID, prepares sales reports; takes daily inventory; stocks shelves, freezers, and coolers; maintains a clean and sanitary service and work area; position makes decisions based on established policies and procedures under the direction of the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 1 year experience in customer service, preferably in a food service environment
• 6 months experience in record keeping
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Successful completion of a background check

Nice To Haves

• 2-4 years of front-line customer service experience
• 1 year of experience taking and filling food orders
• 1 year of experience brewing premium coffees and making espresso-based drinks
• 1 year of cash handling experience
• 1 year of experience in taking inventories
• 1 year of experience in placing orders or requisitioning supplies

Benefits

• The hiring range for this position will be $16.65 - $21.77 per hour.
• The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the selected candidate’s qualifications.
