About The Position

Under supervision, the Café Cashier receives and disburses money within Weill Cornell Medicine’s Café. The role provides friendly, courteous service to guests, maintains an orderly work area, and supports café supply and inventory needs. The position is located at the Griffis Faculty Club on the Upper East Side and is listed at 35 hours per week. It is non-exempt, with a salary range of $20.66 to $22.91 per hour.

Requirements

• Approximately 2 years of prior experience in a customer-service-related role.
• Demonstrated ability to work in an organization emphasizing teamwork, respect, and excellence.
• Food Protection Certificate issued by the Department of Health.

Responsibilities

• Receive cash or credit-card payments and issue receipts, refunds, credit, or change due to customers.
• Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift, verify par amounts, check for adequate change, and sort, count, and wrap currency and coins.
• Calculate total payments received during a shift and reconcile them with total sales.
• Maintain a clean and orderly area.
• Provide friendly, courteous service to guests and escalate issues as needed.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and/or reagents; order items when authorized or escalate needs appropriately; receive supply orders and confirm delivery accuracy; and assist with cost control as applicable.
