About The Position

The Convenience Store Clerk receives customer or Associate payments for goods and services and provides service in a quick, friendly manner. The clerk may oversee store operations when left in charge. Duties and requirements can vary by store location, and Niemann Foods Management may change position requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
One to three months of related experience and/or training.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Food Handler’s Certification as required by state law.
For stores with gaming: at least 21 years of age and a Basset certificate.

Nice To Haves

Recommended equipment: slip-resistant shoes with closed toe and heel, a safety cutter, and uniform per store policy.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service and promote positive customer relations and satisfaction.
Scan products and process customer orders accurately, efficiently, and promptly.
Process and account for other services handled at the register.
Handle all forms of tender and coupons properly.
Balance tills and perform bookkeeping.
Answer incoming phone calls using proper phone etiquette.
Perform fixed activities as assigned by the Store Director.
Assist with store maintenance and cleaning.
Follow store, department, and safety policies and procedures.
Maintain machines and bill breaker machines at stores with gaming.
Perform bartending duties at stores with gaming.
Perform other duties as assigned.
