About The Position

The Busser at Departure clears used tableware, napkins, and refuse from tables, wipes tables and chairs, and removes debris and crumbs from surrounding floor areas. The role supports efficient restaurant service by resetting tables, maintaining the bus station, distributing clean dishes and utensils, and assisting waitstaff and guests. It contributes to the dining culture at The Nines by helping create a welcoming experience that reflects Portland’s warmth and culinary identity.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of restaurant operations.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs, including serving trays, carts, tables, chairs, and small equipment, up to 75% of the time.
Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and finger throughout the shift.
Full range of mobility and ability to travel up to 300 feet regularly throughout the shift.
Ability to stand continuously during preparation, service, or expediting.
Ability to read meters and controls.

Responsibilities

Clear used tableware, napkins, and refuse from tables and place them in tubs at the bus station; wipe tables and chairs and clear debris and crumbs from nearby floor areas.
Reset tables according to established standards so new customers can be seated promptly.
Move full tubs from bus stations to the dishwashing area and keep bus stations clean, stocked, and orderly.
Retrieve cleaned dishes, glassware, and utensils from the dish room and distribute them to service stations.
Sweep restaurant floors throughout the shift.
Retrieve requisitioned items from the stockroom, verify requisitions, stock items in the proper places, and rotate stock.
Assist waitstaff by refilling beverages and responding to requests for condiments, food items, or clean tableware.
Keep ice stations filled by carrying ice from the main ice machine to individual stations.
Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor.
Perform other duties assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
