About The Position

Assurity is hiring a Business Systems Analyst III to own the relationship between an assigned business area and engineering teams, as well as the value and adoption of a portfolio of AI and automation solutions. The role manages intake and backlogs, leads large and cross-system initiatives, builds working proofs of concept using AI agents or n8n, and translates business needs into implementable, AI-ready specifications. These specifications include decision logic, data definitions, exception handling, and human-review steps. The analyst carries solutions through user feedback, acceptance, testing, and production; directs AI agents on substantial analysis and testing work; establishes verification practices; and coaches teammates in the delivery approach. The position uses approved AI tools routinely for suitable work. The analyst remains accountable for the quality, security, and correctness of all results, including deciding when to use AI, validating its output, and using another approach when appropriate. The work emphasizes rapid prototyping with users, adapting or discarding proofs of concept based on feedback, and following solutions through to real-world production use. This is a remote position with occasional on-site attendance. The role participates in a rotating on-call schedule after training, including nights and weekends, and may involve occasional scheduled evening or weekend work for production deployments, cutovers, data migrations, and go-lives. Work may exceed 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of business analyst experience, including leading a cross-system initiative.
  • Hands-on experience directing AI agents on substantial analysis, documentation, or test-creation work and validating their output; practical understanding of prompting, context, retrieval, tool use, evaluations, AI failure modes, human review, and exception handling.
  • Experience owning a business area’s relationship, intake, and backlog, and writing implementable specifications with decision logic, data definitions, exception handling, and human-review steps.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring analysts or other teammates.
  • Experience with Agile development and project management, including Scrum.
  • Experience with MS SQL databases, including SQL for data validation, and Mongo; ability to read API contracts and JSON.
  • Experience testing and managing the testing of RESTful APIs, Windows services, and database integrations using tools such as Postman, Swagger, BrowserStack, Playwright, or other automated test scripting; experience creating and maintaining test suites.
  • Experience creating project charters, work summaries, and workflows in Lucid or a similar tool.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, planning, facilitation, stakeholder-management, and decision-making skills, including making and defending decisions with incomplete information.
  • Professional written and verbal communication, organizational skills to manage multiple tasks within timeline and budget constraints, and business acumen.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced remote team environment, learn rapidly, master diverse technologies and techniques, and learn a business domain from its data, code, and users.
  • Talent in values, work intensity, achiever, positivity, resourcefulness, command, relationship-extension, and exactness.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to follow approved tool and data rules, protect sensitive data and evidence, record material AI contributions, verify the correctness and quality of work, and explain limitations.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Claude, Claude Code, Microsoft Copilot, or similar agentic tools; n8n; Git and GitHub; Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • Ability to read C#, Python, or TypeScript.
  • Experience identifying automation and AI opportunities and defining success measures.
  • Experience with decision tables and business rules, workflow and state-machine design, and human-in-the-loop review design.
  • Insurance or financial services experience, such as new business, underwriting, claims, or policy administration.
  • Relevant technical, analysis, cloud, insurance, or leadership certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Own outcomes, priorities, intake, backlog, business relationships, and several solutions for an assigned business area; resolve tradeoffs with sponsors.
  • Lead large and multi-system initiatives across teams, managing scope, cost, and schedule for on-time and on-budget delivery, and partner with software engineers.
  • Produce and maintain implementable, AI-ready specifications, including decision logic, data definitions, exception handling, human-review steps, flow charts, decision tables, data mappings, and development requirements.
  • Document business requirements and propose system, AI, or automation solutions; compare AI, conventional automation, and process changes against quality, cost, risk, and user needs.
  • Write acceptance criteria and confirm completed work directly with users.
  • Independently build working proofs of concept with AI agents or n8n, such as business rules, workflow steps, portal pages, and letters, and generate requirements from them.
  • Delegate substantial analysis and documentation work to approved AI agents, provide clear intent and context, verify outputs against business needs and with users, and establish team specifications, templates, and context practices.
  • Identify potential AI and automation candidates, define success measures, and recommend opportunities.
  • Create and execute test cases and test plans, including ad-hoc SQL queries, evaluation cases, automated regression testing, and testing of RESTful APIs, Windows services, and database integrations.
  • Lead user acceptance testing for large and cross-system initiatives and carry solutions through development, test, staging, and production; verify evaluation cases, human-review steps, and controls and agree production ownership before release.
  • Establish verification strategies and review practices, identify recurring failure modes, analyze test outcomes, resolve differences, and review others’ test results as needed.
  • Lead small- to mid-sized solution teams and maintain solution integrity.
  • Assist two teammates, or a manager-agreed equivalent, including Business Systems Analyst I and II staff and business users, with accelerated delivery and directing and verifying agent work; provide evidence in their portfolios.
  • Design and conduct end-user training plans and share effective practices as the team adopts the accelerated delivery model.
  • Estimate and log time daily, communicate project status to management and end users, respond professionally to project inquiries, demonstrate functionality, and participate in meetings.
  • Define success measures, monitor outcomes with engineers, and report results honestly.
  • Serve as an escalation point for production issues and support systems by resolving user questions and requests, including through an on-call rotation.
  • Incorporate industry developments, including AI capabilities, into future company systems and maintain skills through ongoing training and study.
