Business Operations Associate (Part-Time)
About The Position
As a Business Operations Associate, you will support store operations by accurately processing sales, auctions, and appraisals. The role combines customer service, attention to detail, and organization in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You will handle cash management, audit and process paperwork, and communicate clearly with customers and internal teams while upholding CarMax’s commitment to transparency and integrity. The position also supports multiple departments and store operations, including training new associates, assisting with overflow traffic, and maintaining accurate records and an orderly work area. The role requires flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- Ability to read, interpret, and record data accurately for compliance and reporting.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems, with intermediate PC skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for customer and team interactions.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and adherence to CarMax policies.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers, answer questions, and guide them through paperwork processes.
- Process and audit paperwork for retail and wholesale sales, including deal jackets, finance contracts, and DMV documentation.
- Manage auction and appraisal transactions, ensuring accurate titles, payoffs, and documentation for funding.
- Receive payments, prepare deposits, and follow cash security protocols.
- Train and mentor new associates, assist multiple departments, and help balance overflow traffic.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and reconciling missing information while maintaining accuracy.
- Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
Benefits
- Eligible part-time associates may receive sick time where required by state law, accrued per pay period according to applicable state rules.
- Part-time associates are eligible for 8 to 40 hours of vacation per year based on length of service, subject to a one-year waiting period.
- Part-time associates are eligible for 4 hours of Floating Holiday Time each calendar year, subject to manager approval.
