Business Operations Analyst

•$105,300 - $156,465

About The Position

AppLovin is seeking a Business Operations Analyst to provide technical and operational support to its Business Operations team and the systems supporting its mobile-advertising business. The analyst will help other BizOps analysts deliver reliable projects by reviewing code, debugging workflows, investigating product issues, and translating business problems into actionable requests for Engineering and Operations. The role also involves writing and maintaining workflow code and analyzing product features and experiments. The analyst serves as a practical link between business and technical teams. They are expected to learn quickly, investigate problems independently, exercise good judgment, and follow issues through to resolution. AI-assisted development is a regular part of the team's work, so the role requires using AI tools effectively and reviewing generated code for mistakes, assumptions, and reliability. The position supports projects and workflows through Python, SQL, APIs, GCP services, and Salesforce integrations. It also involves statistical analysis of product features, experiments, operational data, and advertising data; investigating discrepancies across internal systems and partner platforms; and communicating findings, blockers, and next steps through concise messages, tickets, and documentation. AppLovin offers a competitive total compensation package using a pay-for-performance approach. Compensation depends on factors including market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Depending on the position offered, equity and other incentive compensation may also be provided, in addition to benefits.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn unfamiliar systems, connect information across sources, and work through ambiguous problems.
  • A strong work ethic and sense of ownership, including initiative, persistence, and following work through to completion.
  • Good judgment regarding data quality, system changes, permissions, and operational risk, including knowing when to resolve problems independently and when to seek expertise or review.
  • Effective use of AI coding and workflow tools to develop, review, and maintain substantial volumes of code; ability to evaluate generated work, identify mistakes, and guide it toward the intended outcome.
  • Practical experience with Python, SQL, Git, pull-request workflows, and APIs, including investigating and debugging existing code.
  • Hands-on experience managing GCP services and workflows, including permissions, credentials, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience applying statistical analysis and data science techniques, including selecting appropriate methods, interpreting results accurately, and explaining limitations.

  • Experience maintaining production automations, data pipelines, or shared internal applications.
  • Familiarity with least-privilege access and sensitive data handling.

Responsibilities

  • Support projects led by other BizOps analysts by clarifying requirements, reviewing technical approaches, and resolving implementation problems.
  • Debug issues in existing workflow code, integrations, and data processes; investigate root causes and implement or coordinate fixes.
  • Review BizOps pull requests, including substantial AI-generated changes, for correctness, security, maintainability, and alignment with business requirements; provide actionable feedback and verify concerns are addressed.
  • Write and maintain Python code, SQL workflows, integrations, and automations supporting the team’s work.
  • Investigate product bugs, distinguish expected behavior from defects, and gather evidence using code, logs, data, and reproducible examples.
  • Write clear tickets for Engineering and Operations explaining the problem, business impact, evidence, and expected outcome; follow up on dependencies and verify resolutions.
  • Manage GCP services supporting BizOps workflows, including service accounts, permissions, secrets, configuration, and deployments.
  • Support Salesforce workflows and integrations, including programming against its APIs.
  • Analyze product features, experiments, operational data, and advertising data; apply appropriate statistical methods, interpret results, and explain limitations.
  • Investigate discrepancies across internal systems and partner platforms.
  • Prioritize competing requests and communicate findings, decisions, blockers, and next steps through concise Slack messages, tickets, and documentation.
  • Identify recurring problems and improve tools, documentation, and practices that help the broader BizOps team work effectively. The posting describes this as part of what success looks like.

  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Unlimited discretionary time off.
  • 10 paid holidays per year.
