Business Development Specialist

Kapella Group•Centennial, CO

About The Position

Global Construction, a subsidiary of Kapella Group, is a commercial general contractor operating across Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Florida, and Wyoming. To support strategic expansion in the Denver metropolitan area, the company is hiring a business development professional to cultivate high-value industry partnerships and drive long-term revenue growth. Reporting directly to the Director of Business Development, this role leads the origination and development of commercial opportunities throughout Colorado. The specialist identifies prospective project owners, developers, design partners, and other decision-makers; secures strategic meetings; and develops qualified relationships into negotiated general contracting contracts. The role emphasizes relationship-driven client acquisition, pursuit management, and long-term account development rather than high-volume calling or inbound lead processing.

Requirements

  • Proven business development experience in commercial construction, ideally with a general contractor, commercial subcontractor, A/E firm, or owner’s representation firm.
  • Demonstrated record of securing negotiated commercial construction contracts in the target markets.
  • Demonstrable history of self-sourced commercial opportunities, including details about client profiles, how relationships began, and awarded projects.
  • Established, active relationships with owners, developers, architects, and owner’s representatives throughout Colorado.
  • Working knowledge of general contractor pursuit lifecycles and delivery methods, including negotiated, design-build, construction management, and hard bid.
  • Ability to articulate and execute successful client acquisition strategies.
  • Comfort and persistence with proactive outreach and sales cycles spanning 6 to 18 months.
  • Strong CRM discipline and understanding of the distinction between initial contacts and qualified opportunities.
  • Executive-level communication, networking, relationship-management skills, and professional credibility with property owners, developers, and senior corporate leadership.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for frequent local travel.

Responsibilities

  • Map, target, and engage decision-makers to establish strategic commercial partnerships.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new commercial opportunities with property owners, developers, operators, architects, and owner’s representatives.
  • Secure and lead meetings with key project decision-makers.
  • Evaluate prospective pursuits for clearly defined decision-makers, project scope, timelines, and actionable next steps.
  • Re-engage dormant client networks and historical contacts to uncover new revenue opportunities.
  • Manage client relationships from initial engagement through contract negotiation and project execution.
  • Collaborate with preconstruction and estimating teams on go/no-go evaluations, proposals, interviews, and contract negotiations.
  • Work with preconstruction, estimating, operations, and marketing teams to align prospective client needs with operational capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, including opportunity owners, sales stages, dated next actions, and current notes.
  • Communicate consistently with clients during construction and project closeout to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Represent Global Construction at industry events, networking functions, and trade associations.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary of $80,000 to $110,000 per year, determined by professional experience, historical book of business, and active Colorado industry networks.
  • Uncapped commission calculated as a percentage of gross profit generated from self-sourced projects.
  • First-year performance ramp bonus targeted at 10% of base salary, distributed quarterly upon successful completion of established activity metrics.
  • Weekly payroll.
  • Vehicle allowance and mileage reimbursement for local business travel.
  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Paid time off (PTO).
  • Paid company holidays.
