About The Position

Solvay is seeking a Business Development & Sales Manager specializing in Rare Earth & Specialty Chemical Solutions for North America. This role is crucial for identifying growth opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and expanding Solvay's market presence. The manager will act as the main commercial contact between customers and Solvay, driving revenue and fostering long-term relationships within the rare earth and magnetic materials value chain. Collaboration with R&D, product management, operations, and supply chain teams is key to identifying opportunities, supporting commercialization, and accelerating growth in sectors like electric vehicles, renewable energy, electronics, industrial motors, aerospace, and defense. This position contributes to technologies supporting electrification, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing, playing a role in shaping Solvay's growth strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of sales, business development, account management, or commercial experience within the chemical, specialty materials, rare earth, advanced materials, or magnet industries.
  • Experience working within industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with material qualification processes.
  • Business Development & Strategic Account Management competencies.
  • Rare Earth & Specialty Materials Market Expertise competencies.
  • Commercial Negotiation & Market Analysis competencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of permanent magnets, magnetic materials, rare earth products, or related technologies is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to grow market share and revenue within the rare earth and permanent magnet industry.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with magnet manufacturers, alloy producers, recyclers, OEMs, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Identify new business opportunities through market analysis, competitive intelligence, and customer engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support product qualification, commercialization efforts, and customer technical requirements.
  • Manage strategic accounts, commercial negotiations, sales forecasts, and long-term supply agreements to achieve business objectives.
