About The Position

This sales and market development role focuses on cosmetic ingredients of dedicated market segments for the personal care industry. The Business Development Manager leverages strong commercial and technical expertise to grow market share, manage a robust opportunity pipeline, and achieve regional growth objectives aligned with global strategy. Working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Applied Innovation, and global business teams, this role develops and executes market strategies while serving as a subject matter expert on customers, competitors, and Evonik's product portfolio. An entrepreneurial mindset is essential to driving growth in this strategic market.

Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required.
3+ years of experience in the personal care industry, preferably in business development, sales, marketing, or technical roles.
Strong knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, formulation processes, skin science, regulatory requirements, and product claims.
Proven ability to identify customer needs and develop value-driven product solutions.
Excellent communication, presentation, sales, analytical, and relationship management skills.
Entrepreneurial, self-motivated professional with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and CRM tools; able to work collaboratively across global teams and travel up to 20-40% as needed.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Life Sciences, Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field preferred.
Background in cosmetic formulation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs sales calls and in person visits to existing and potential customers (prospecting) on a regular basis to facilitate growth in regional sales and profitability.
Support project and opportunity pipeline development for selected cosmetic raw material segments.
Support marketing activities to promote segment products, serves as sales specialist/ technical sales contact during customer presentations.
Entering contact reports into CRM system according to business rules.
Accountability for opportunity management for assigned segments and region. This includes monitoring, regular review and analysis, opportunity hygiene (processing through stages, alignment of stages/probability according to business rules).
Partnering with account managers to ensure good quality and viability of opportunity pipeline.
Serves as a key member of both the global and regional segment team. Within these teams the global strategy is developed and implemented leading to the regional strategy and action plans.
Provides critical input reflecting the regional market needs to drive product and market development initiatives.
Responsible for developing the regional segment strategy and leading the implementation.
To accomplish this the incumbent must become an expert in the personal care market by studying market trends, competitors and their product lines, and key customers in the segment.
Participates in tradeshows, industry events & associations promoting and advocating for Evonik's actives products.
This role must be recognized throughout the industry as Evonik’s representative for the segment products.
Supports in customer interaction such as complaint management, regulatory requests, audits, customer projects and other projects.
Provides support as Account Manager when required.
Responsibilities include delivering timely customer feedback, conducting customer visits, preparing forecasts, managing pricing, and presenting products to ensure effective account management and alignment with business objectives.
