Business Development Manager, Duolingo English Test, Duolingo China

Duolingo is seeking a creative and energetic individual to help accelerate the growth of the Duolingo English Test in China. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of related experience in a sales/marketing/business development role, a deep understanding of the English test market and study abroad ecosystem in China, and experience working with English education institutions, overseas study agencies, and/or international schools. The role involves developing and owning relationships within the study abroad and English testing ecosystem in China, planning and driving product awareness strategies for different stakeholder groups, identifying and engaging with organizations that support study abroad and international education, identifying and driving new growth initiatives, and defining metrics to measure the impact of their work.

• Develop and own relationships within the study abroad and English testing ecosystem in China

• 4+ years of related experience in a sales/marketing/business development role
• A deep understanding of the English test market and study abroad ecosystem in China
• Experience working with English education institutions, overseas study agencies and/or international schools
• Data-driven sales and marketing experience
• Strategic thinking and hands-on execution
• Ability to come up with creative and resourceful solutions to solve ambiguous problems
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Proficient in Mandarin Chinese and English (both written & spoken)
• A desire to make the world a better place through technology
• Occasional business travel within China and to our US headquarters in Pittsburgh
• Legal authorization to work in China. This position is based in Beijing
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business or related field (exceptional candidates)
• Previous experience working or studying in an English-speaking environment (exceptional candidates)
• Excellent negotiation and project management skills (exceptional candidates)
• Previous startup experience (exceptional candidates)
