About the position
The job overview for the position of Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) Business Development Manager at Phoenix Contact is to be the subject matter expert responsible for the overall segment strategy, revenue, and pursuit of the AGV market in the USA. This role involves defining the Phoenix Contact value proposition, building technology and brand awareness, and leading field sales personnel by providing application insight and market knowledge. The AGV Business Development Manager will also support training, project pursuit, and joint account development activities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct market analysis to identify US AGV/AMR accounts and determine market potential
- Design and develop product and application solutions for AGV and AMR applications
- Engage with AGV/AMR customers and projects to guide product and solution development
- Create sales tools such as demos, presentations, and training modules
- Develop new accounts and maintain existing relationships to create a project pipeline
- Implement a go-to-market plan for the AGV market in the USA
- Pursue projects from industry databases and identify opportunities for business relationships
- Attend conferences and meetings to raise Phoenix Contact's profile in the AGV/AMR segment
- Continually improve strategic plans
- Assist with implementation of new programs and products
- Provide mentoring and support for field sales personnel and other staff
- Engage with the Global Vertical Market Management Factory Automation Team to share industry standards, knowledge, applications, and solutions
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a technical sales and/or business development sales role
- Four-year college degree, advanced degree a plus
- Deep domain knowledge of the AGV/AMR market and related technologies
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Strong multitasking and attention to detail
- Ability to take a project from beginning to end
- Willingness to travel by air 35-40%, including cross country and overseas travel destinations when required
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
