The Business Development Specialist I or II owns the accuracy and integrity of customer and account data in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and provides technical support to the sales and account management team. The specialist serves as a liaison with other functional groups on pre-deal issues in the sales cycle. Level II provides advanced support and serves as the primary point of contact for these issues. At Level I, the role creates opportunities, offers, and pricing scenarios; maintains customer data and account hierarchies; supports business development and account managers with regional utility requirements; responds primarily by email to RFPs; and coordinates with Sales and other groups during data validation and contract execution. The role may also contribute to process-improvement work, training, cleanup projects, and system testing. At Level II, the role independently determines appropriate delivery points and rate classes, collaborates on products and margins, and applies knowledge of utility, market, lead source, and product requirements. It communicates directly with customers, prospects, and channel partners; sends pricing and contracts; analyzes account information to support account structures and transaction options; manages complex CRM data changes; and serves as an internal resource and initial escalation point for data validation and system synchronization challenges. Both levels require travel as needed to meet business needs and in-person attendance for trainings, team meetings, and other important events. Candidates should be within commuting distance of the Boston, Baltimore, Houston, or Chicago offices for in-person meetings or events.
