BUR Administrator (Colorado Springs, CO)
About The Position
Maximus is seeking an experienced Backup and Recovery (BUR) Administrator to support a federal client and its mission-critical systems. The role manages and maintains enterprise backup solutions, including configuration, monitoring, administration, and maintenance supporting business continuity for Unix/Linux, database, and Windows servers and virtual machines. This is an onsite position in Colorado Springs, Colorado, requiring five days onsite per week and an active Secret security clearance. The role supports mission-critical systems operating on a 24x7x365 basis, and shift work is required.
Requirements
- Active Secret security clearance.
- At least 7 years of experience in a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience with Storage Protect/Spectrum Protect or a similar product.
- At least 5 years of experience with data protection for VMware.
- At least 5 years of experience with Windows/Unix.
- At least 5 years of experience managing disk and tape backup pools.
- At least 5 years of experience with storage capacity planning and forecasting.
- Must be based around the Colorado Springs, Colorado area and available onsite daily.
- Availability for shift work supporting daily operations of mission-critical systems on a 24x7x365 basis.
Responsibilities
- Set up, configure, and manage Storage Protect/Spectrum Protect instances and clients.
- Manage LAN-based backups, monitor schedules, troubleshoot failures, and ensure servers and databases are backed up daily.
- Configure tape paths, oversee data and server restoration, and ensure retention policies align with business needs.
- Perform periodic health checks, install software patches, optimize performance, and conduct housekeeping for server databases.
- Maintain working knowledge of Unix and Windows operating systems.
- Manage disk and tape backup pools.
- Manage offsite copies of backed-up data for business continuity.
- Conduct storage capacity planning and forecasting to accommodate future growth and changing business requirements.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
