About The Position

The Bulk Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market oversees the maintenance, packaging, and stocking of the store’s bulk foods department. The role ensures bulk merchandise is prepared, packaged, priced, and presented accurately, and that the department remains clean, orderly, and compliant with company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures, and COOL requirements. The manager leads department team members, communicates standards and product knowledge, supports customer service, manages inventory and staffing, and participates in hiring and performance decisions. The position may also serve as a store Key Carrier or Manager on Duty as needed.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
1–2 years of experience in a retail grocery environment and 1 year of managerial leadership experience.
Dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a changing flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
Outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude toward Team Members and customers.
Ability to transfer products weighing up to 50 pounds from heights of 4 inches to 36 inches, for distances up to 4 feet, for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance.
Ability to stand continuously for up to 4 hours at a time, totaling 8 hours per shift.

Responsibilities

Oversee maintenance, packaging, and stocking of bulk foods and follow the merchandising Bulk plan.
Ensure team members package and scale bulk items, fill bulk bins, and prepare, wrap, and price packages accurately and legibly.
Order and maintain inventory, rotate products using code dates, and follow the company’s cleaning and sanitation program.
Oversee compliance with company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures, and COOL regulations.
Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
Provide a high level of customer service and lead the team in delivering quality products and a positive customer experience.
Ensure bulk items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented, and keep the Bulk area clean and orderly.
Receive, unload, and stock merchandise as needed throughout the day.
Coach, evaluate, and develop team members; provide feedback and one-on-one development discussions; and recommend merit increases through the bi-annual performance review process.
Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
Recruit, hire, and make promotion or transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
Exercise independent judgment in addressing Team Member concerns.
Document and take corrective action when needed, collaborating with business and HR partners on coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination.
Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to support productivity and efficiency.
Serve as a Key Carrier for the store and/or act as Manager on Duty as needed.
Know weekly ad items, direct customers to product locations throughout the store, and perform general department housekeeping.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
