About The Position

The Bulk Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market oversees the maintenance, packaging, and stocking of bulk foods. The role leads the department team to ensure products are prepared, packaged, priced, and presented accurately, and that the Bulk area remains clean and orderly. The manager supports a high level of customer service and product quality while maintaining inventory and complying with company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures, and COOL requirements.

The position also involves team leadership and department operations, including communicating standards and product knowledge, coaching and evaluating team members, making staffing and scheduling decisions, and collaborating with the Store Manager on hiring and promotion or transfer decisions. The Bulk Manager serves as a Key Carrier and may act as Manager on Duty as needed.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have 1–2 years of experience in a retail grocery environment and 1 year of managerial leadership experience.
• Must be dependable and reliable and able to work a changing, flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must possess working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• Must demonstrate outgoing and friendly behavior and a positive attitude toward Team Members and customers.
• Must be able to move product weighing up to 50 pounds vertically or horizontally from 4 to 36 inches, for distances up to 4 feet, for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Must be able to stand continuously for up to 4 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, packaging, and stocking of all bulk foods.
• Follow the merchandising Bulk plan and ensure team members package and scale items, fill bulk bins, and prepare, wrap, and price bulk packages accurately and legibly.
• Order and maintain inventory, rotate products using code dates, and follow the company’s cleaning and sanitation program.
• Ensure the department complies with company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures, and COOL regulations.
• Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
• Provide a high level of customer service.
• Ensure Bulk items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented, and that the Bulk area is clean and orderly.
• Receive, unload, and stock merchandise as needed throughout the day.
• Coach and provide feedback to team members, conduct one-on-one development discussions, and recommend merit increases through the bi-annual performance review process.
• Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
• Recruit, hire, and make promotion or transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
• Exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
• Document and take corrective actions when needed, collaborating with business and HR partners on performance management, including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination.
• Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to support productivity and efficiency.
• Lead the team in delivering quality products, service, and customer experience.
• Serve as a Key Carrier for the store and/or act as Manager on Duty as needed.
• Know weekly ad items, direct customers to product locations, and perform general housekeeping in the department.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
