About The Position

The Bulk Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market oversees the maintenance, packing, and stocking of the store’s bulk foods department. The role ensures bulk merchandise is prepared, packaged, priced, and presented accurately, while keeping the department clean, orderly, and compliant with company and government safety, health, Weights & Measures, and COOL requirements. The manager leads department team members by communicating expectations, standards, policy changes, and product knowledge; providing coaching and feedback; supporting development and performance reviews; and making staffing and employment decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager. The role also provides customer service, maintains inventory, handles merchandise, manages schedules and staffing, and may serve as a Key Carrier or Manager on Duty as needed.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have 1–2 years of experience in a retail grocery environment and 1 year of managerial leadership experience.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible, changing schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Know weekly ad items and be able to direct customers to product locations throughout the store.
Possess a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude toward Team Members and customers.
Be able to move product weighing up to 50 lbs. vertically and horizontally, from 4 inches to 36 inches, for up to 4 feet and for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to stand continuously for up to 4 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift.

Responsibilities

Oversee the maintenance, packing, and stocking of all bulk foods.
Follow the merchandising Bulk plan and ensure team members package and scale bulk items, fill bulk bins, and prepare, wrap, and price packages accurately and legibly.
Order and maintain inventory, rotate products using code dates, and follow the company cleaning and sanitation program.
Ensure department compliance with company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures, and COOL regulations.
Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
Provide a high level of customer service and help customers locate products throughout the store.
Ensure bulk items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented, and keep the Bulk area clean and orderly.
Receive, unload, and stock merchandise as needed.
Coach, evaluate, and develop team members, conduct one-on-one development discussions, and make merit-increase recommendations through the bi-annual performance review process.
Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
Recruit, hire, and make promotion or transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
Exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
Document and take corrective actions when needed, working with business and HR partners on coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination.
Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to support productivity and efficiency.
Lead the team in delivering quality products, high-level service, and a strong customer experience.
Serve as a Key Carrier for the store and/or act as Manager on Duty as needed.
Perform general housekeeping in the department and other related duties as assigned.
