About The Position

The Bulk Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market oversees the maintenance, packing, and stocking of the store’s bulk foods department. The role ensures bulk products are accurately packaged, scaled, prepared, wrapped, priced, and presented, while keeping the department clean, orderly, and compliant with company and governmental requirements. The manager maintains inventory, follows merchandising plans and product rotation practices, provides customer service, and leads department employees through communication, coaching, staffing, and performance management.

The Bulk Manager may serve as a store Key Carrier or Manager on Duty as needed. The role requires a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and involves physical work such as standing for extended periods and moving products weighing up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• One to two years of experience in a retail grocery environment.
• One year of managerial leadership experience.
• Dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a changing, flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Knowledge of weekly ad items and ability to direct customers to product locations throughout the store.
• Working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• Outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude toward team members and customers.
• Ability to move products weighing up to 50 pounds vertically and horizontally, from 4 to 36 inches, for up to 4 feet and for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Ability to stand continuously for up to 4 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, packing, and stocking of bulk foods.
• Follow the Bulk merchandising plan and ensure the team packages and scales products, fills bins, and prepares, wraps, and prices bulk packages accurately and legibly.
• Order and maintain inventory, rotate product using code dates, and follow the company cleaning and sanitation program.
• Ensure compliance with company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures, and COOL regulations.
• Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
• Provide a high level of customer service and help customers locate products throughout the store.
• Ensure bulk items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented, and that the Bulk area remains clean and orderly.
• Receive, unload, and stock merchandise as needed.
• Coach, provide feedback to, and develop team members; conduct bi-annual performance reviews and make merit-increase recommendations.
• Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
• Recruit, hire, and make promotion or transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
• Use independent judgment to address team member concerns.
• Document and take corrective actions, collaborating with business and HR partners on performance management when needed.
• Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Lead the team in delivering quality products, high-level service, and a positive customer experience.
• Serve as a store Key Carrier and/or Manager on Duty as needed.
• Perform general housekeeping in the department and other related duties as assigned.
