About The Position

The Bulk Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market oversees the maintenance, packaging, and stocking of bulk foods. The role ensures products are accurately prepared and presented, inventory is maintained, and the department follows merchandising, sanitation, safety, health, Weights & Measures, and COOL requirements. The manager communicates standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members, while providing customers with a high level of service and maintaining a clean, orderly department. The Bulk Manager leads the department team through coaching, feedback, performance reviews, and development discussions. In collaboration with the Store Manager, the role participates in recruiting, hiring, and promotion or transfer decisions, and addresses team member concerns and performance issues. The manager also creates and adjusts schedules and staffing levels, serves as a Key Carrier and may act as Manager on Duty as needed, attends in-store meetings, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have 1–2 years of experience in a retail grocery environment.
Have 1 year of managerial leadership experience.
Be dependable and reliable, and able to work a changing, flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Know weekly advertised items and be able to direct customers to product locations throughout the store.
Possess working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude toward team members and customers.
Be able to move product weighing up to 50 pounds vertically and horizontally from 4 to 36 inches, over a distance of up to 4 feet, for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to stand continuously for up to 4 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift.

Responsibilities

Oversee maintenance, packaging, and stocking of bulk foods.
Follow the merchandising Bulk plan and ensure team members package and scale bulk items, fill bins, and prepare, wrap, and price packages accurately and legibly.
Order and maintain inventory, rotate products using code dates, and follow the company cleaning and sanitation program.
Ensure department compliance with company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures, and COOL regulations.
Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
Provide a high level of customer service and help customers locate products throughout the store.
Ensure bulk items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented, and keep the Bulk area clean and orderly.
Receive, unload, and stock merchandise as needed.
Coach, provide feedback to, and develop team members; conduct bi-annual performance reviews and make merit increase recommendations.
Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
Recruit, hire, and make promotion or transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
Exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns.
Take and document corrective actions, collaborating with business and HR partners on performance management when needed.
Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to support productivity and efficiency.
Lead a team to deliver quality products, service, and customer experiences.
Serve as a Key Carrier and/or act as Manager on Duty as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
