About The Position

Bureau Veritas is seeking an immediate hire for a Residential/Combination Building Inspector in Athens, GA. This role operates under the direction of the Area Inspection Manager and is responsible for performing daily inspections on residential and commercial construction projects, along with other assigned duties. Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a residential construction inspector is required.
ICC Residential Combination Inspector certification is required.
Must have a valid Georgia driver's license.
Strong knowledge of building and related municipal codes, building inspection methods and techniques, and construction materials, methods, and techniques.
Understanding of erosion and sedimentation control laws and Best Management Practices.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to operate work-related technology (laptop, tablet, iPhone) and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Capable of following directions and asking pertinent clarifying questions.
Maintains a professional appearance, attitude, and conduct.
Self-disciplined and able to work without direct supervision.
Works well with people and performs as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Solves problems and has a positive attitude while establishing and maintaining relationships.

Nice To Haves

Supplemental additional training in building inspection, structural engineering, or a related field is preferred.
An Associate's Degree in engineering, architecture, building inspection, or related field, or equivalent ICC certification level is a plus.
At least one year of experience focused on erosion and sediment control inspections is preferred.
ICC Commercial Inspector Combination certification is preferred.
GSWCC Level IB Inspector certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs scheduled assignments between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Completes daily duties responsibly and safely with respect to private and personal property.
Readily communicates with staff, citizens, teammates, and builder/contractors as necessary.
Maintains detailed records and reports of all inspections and compliance cases.
Assists client staff and team members whenever necessary.
Updates files, answers phone calls, and schedules inspections as necessary.
Maintains ICC certifications and professional credentials.
Secures additional ICC certifications, attends training opportunities, and consistently studies codes and standards as related to work requirements.
