Budtender (Full Time) - High Plainz Strains of Fort Lupton
About The Position
High Plainz Strains is hiring a full-time Budtender for its Fort Lupton dispensary. Budtenders provide professional service in a regulated retail environment, helping customers understand available cannabis products and choose options that fit their needs. The role combines customer service, product knowledge, responsible retail sales, accurate transactions, and compliance with company procedures and Colorado cannabis regulations. Previous cannabis industry experience is helpful but not required. The employer is interested in candidates who communicate well, enjoy helping customers, are dependable, and are willing to learn the products. Relevant experience may come from retail, restaurants, bartending, serving, hospitality, specialty retail, cash handling, or customer-facing work. Employees who demonstrate reliability, product knowledge, and good judgment may pursue Lead Budtender, management, or other roles as openings become available; advancement is not automatic. The position is generally scheduled for 30–40 hours per week over 4–5 shifts. Base pay is $15.16 per hour. Tips currently average approximately $4–6 per hour in additional compensation, but vary and are not guaranteed. The store is in Fort Lupton, Colorado, and operates from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. Employees must hold an active Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) Employee License before beginning regulated cannabis work. Having an active license when applying is not required, but candidates must be eligible and willing to obtain one before starting. Employees are responsible for obtaining, maintaining, and paying for the required license.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must hold an active Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) Employee License before beginning regulated cannabis work; applicants without an active license may apply if eligible and willing to obtain one before starting.
- Must obtain, maintain, and pay for the required MED license.
- Communicate clearly and be comfortable talking with customers.
- Be reliable and able to work efficiently when the store is busy.
- Be comfortable handling money and following procedures consistently in a regulated environment.
- Be interested in learning the products and able to explain them clearly without guessing when additional information is needed.
Nice To Haves
- Previous cannabis industry experience or cannabis product knowledge.
- Experience in retail sales, customer service, serving, bartending, restaurants, hospitality, specialty retail, cash handling, or point-of-sale systems.
- An active MED license at the time of application.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and learn what they are looking for.
- Explain available cannabis products and product categories.
- Help customers compare products and make informed purchasing decisions.
- Learn the company’s flower, concentrates, edibles, vapes, topicals, and other product offerings.
- Operate the point-of-sale system and complete transactions accurately.
- Handle cash accurately and with integrity.
- Check orders for accuracy.
- Stock and organize products on the sales floor.
- Learn current promotions and loyalty programs.
- Maintain a clean and organized retail environment.
- Follow company procedures and Colorado cannabis regulations.
- Work with the retail team to keep customers moving efficiently during busy periods.
