About The Position

High Plainz Strains is hiring a full-time Budtender for its Garden City dispensary. Budtenders help customers understand cannabis products and choose options that fit their needs while providing accurate, professional service in a regulated retail environment. The location serves customers both in-store and through a drive-thru, and employees may rotate among responsibilities based on customer traffic and operational needs. The role combines customer service, product knowledge, responsible retail sales, accurate transaction processing, and compliance. Budtenders are expected to learn the store’s products, brands, promotions, loyalty programs, and retail systems; tailor the amount of assistance to each customer; and balance efficient service with accuracy and regulatory requirements, especially during busy periods. The position is full-time and generally scheduled for 30–40 hours per week over 4–5 shifts. The dispensary operates seven days a week, so retail availability may include mornings, daytime shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Schedules are based on store needs and employee availability. The base wage is $15.16 per hour, with variable customer tips. The posting states that tips currently average approximately $4–$6 per hour, but this is not guaranteed. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. Employees must hold an active Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) Employee License before beginning regulated cannabis work and are responsible for obtaining, maintaining, and paying for the required license. Having an active license when applying is not required, but candidates must be eligible and willing to obtain one before starting. Full-time employees can access medical, dental, and vision coverage, supplemental coverage, a retirement program, paid sick leave, and PTO/vacation beginning after six months. The company also offers performance and wage reviews and opportunities to learn additional retail responsibilities. Employees who demonstrate reliability, product knowledge, and good judgment may pursue advancement opportunities when openings are available; advancement is not automatic.
