About The Position

Breakfast Cooks support the Market Grille morning operation by preparing hot and cold breakfast items. The role involves prepping ingredients, assembling dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications, and helping keep the kitchen running smoothly throughout the shift. The position suits someone who enjoys kitchen work, takes pride in food quality, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be 18 or older.
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in varied situations with limited standardization.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Nice To Haves

Six months or less of similar or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers and making interactions positive.
Prepare cooking surfaces and ready the kitchen for service.
Prepare vegetables, sides, meats, and breakfast foods according to restaurant recipes and specifications.
Place food in hot cases, monitor quantities, and refill as needed throughout the shift.
Prepare items for upcoming shifts to support a smooth transition.
Stay knowledgeable about menu items and take guest orders as needed.
Order products and supplies when necessary or notify the department head of needs.
Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other areas of the store and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
