About The Position

The Breakfast Attendant provides efficient, courteous service to hotel guests in the complimentary breakfast area. The role includes greeting and seating guests, maintaining clean and stocked service areas, handling guest requests, supporting food and beverage service, preparing beverages, and completing cashiering and shift procedures. The attendant also answers guest questions about the hotel and local attractions and works with other departments to support guest needs.

Requirements

Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
Willingness and ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must meet the legal age to serve alcoholic beverages and satisfactorily pass a responsible-serving course such as TIPs, if required by the property.
Must be able to obtain and provide a Food Handlers card if required by the city, county, or state.
Ability to quickly and accurately evaluate and select among alternative courses of action.
Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
Understanding of hotel products and guest services.
Ability to communicate professionally with guests and team members in person and by phone.
Positive attitude and desire to serve others.
Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
Ability to perform basic numerical operations, including counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to deal effectively with customers and staff while demonstrating patience, tact, and diplomacy.
Willingness to learn new tasks and information, support other team members, and respond positively and optimistically to guests and coworkers.

Responsibilities

Approach guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag.
Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner.
Ensure menus are clean and presentable.
Clear, clean, and reset tables and hotel spaces as requested by clients or management.
Keep service areas stocked, organized, clean, and neat, and complete assigned side work each shift.
Accommodate guest requests and offer appropriate alternatives when necessary.
Communicate with other departments regarding in-house VIPs.
Support food and beverage service as needed, including washing dishes, restocking equipment, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning work surfaces and appliances, and moving trash to designated areas.
Know the standards for receiving room-service orders and be familiar with menus and current specials in applicable departments.
Perform cashiering functions, close checks, and complete end-of-shift paperwork.
Perform opening and closing procedures and side work according to station rotation assignments.
Answer questions about the hotel, brand standards, guest expectations, the property, local attractions, and activities.
Produce high-quality drinks, including specialty coffee and tea, specialty cocktails, and other beverage requests as required.
Perform other duties and attend meetings as requested by management.
