About The Position

The Regional Bookkeeper provides bookkeeping services for the parish in accordance with Archdiocesan administration and finance policies and procedures. The role supports parish financial operations, payroll, employee benefit programs, budgeting, fundraising, and financial reporting, and serves the Parish Finance Council as requested. The position is located at Sacred Heart Parish in Lacey, Washington, and reports to Jackie Shirley.

Requirements

Fundamental accounting knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain accounts payable and receivable ledgers and prepare and submit monthly financial statements to the pastor and Finance Council.
Maintain parish banking accounts, process check requests, and verify authorization for expenditures in program and operating accounts.
Reconcile bank statements monthly.
Track monthly staff payroll through PayCom and ensure appropriate taxes are withheld and quarterly government reports are prepared and submitted on time.
Account for parish contributions and deposit parish collections weekly.
Coordinate volunteers for money-counting and record-keeping.
Administer pension, medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, Tax Deferred Annuity, and Premium Only Programs for parish employees.
Ensure funds are deposited, either personally or by submitting them to the Pastoral Assistant for Administration for deposit.
Assist the pastoral leader and others, as directed, with preparation of the annual parish budget.
Provide financial information, including current budget allocations, year-to-date balances, and anticipated future financial needs.
Serve as staff to the Parish Finance Council as requested.
Provide bookkeeping services and advice to those directing parish fundraising efforts, including the Annual Catholic Appeal, Sacrificial Giving, and special collections.
Maintain the knowledge and skills required for the bookkeeping profession through training, workshops, classes, reading, and/or membership in local professional organizations.
