About The Position

The Bodily Injury/Litigation Team Lead/Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of Bodily Injury and Litigation Claims professionals handling complex bodily injury and attorney-represented claims across California, Texas, and Arizona. This role provides technical guidance, coaching, quality assurance, and operational oversight to ensure timely claim resolution, regulatory compliance, exceptional customer service, and achievement of departmental objectives. The ideal candidate possesses extensive bodily injury handling and litigation claims experience, strong leadership skills, and comprehensive knowledge of state-specific liability laws, insurance regulations, and litigation practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent claims experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of Bodily Injury claims experience.
  • 3+ years handling attorney-represented and litigation claims.
  • Previous supervisory, leadership, mentoring, or team lead experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of: California bodily injury laws and Fair Claims Settlement Practices Regulations, Texas negligence and insurance regulations, Arizona comparative negligence and insurance statutes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in liability investigations, injury evaluation, settlement negotiations, and litigation management.
  • Ability to analyze complex medical records and damage evaluations.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Multi-state claims handling experience.
  • Litigation management experience involving high-exposure claims.
  • Insurance designations such as CPCU, AIC, SCLA, or ARM.
  • Experience leading remote or geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience managing claims involving catastrophic injuries or complex liability issues.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Bodily Injury Litigation Adjusters.
  • Monitor workloads and assign claims to maximize efficiency and service levels.
  • Conduct regular file reviews to ensure proper investigation, liability assessment, damages evaluation, negotiation strategy, and documentation.
  • Provide technical expertise on complex liability, comparative negligence, policy interpretation, and litigation matters.
  • Review and approve settlement authority within established guidelines.
  • Assist adjusters in resolving high-exposure and catastrophic injury claims.
  • Collaborate with defense counsel to develop litigation strategies and evaluate settlement opportunities.
  • Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and trial preparation as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with California, Texas, and Arizona insurance regulations, company policies, and best practices.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including cycle time, indemnity control, litigation outcomes, customer satisfaction, and quality scores.
  • Identify trends affecting claim outcomes and implement process improvements.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development plans.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with internal departments including SIU, Medical Management, Subrogation, Underwriting, and Legal.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, litigation developments, and state-specific regulatory changes.
