About The Position

Miller’s Health Systems provides free training for people interested in becoming Certified Nursing Assistants. Students must complete classroom instruction and supervised clinical training, then pass the state exam to become a Certified Nurse’s Aide. The training includes 36–40 hours of classroom work and 75 hours of practicum at a long-term care facility. Students who complete the course receive a certificate of completion and a scheduled test date. Miller’s Merry Manor pays for the scheduled test and one retake if the student is hired and in good standing as an employee; otherwise, the student is responsible for scheduling and paying for the exam.

Requirements

• Complete the required classroom instruction and pass all classroom tests with at least 80%; students have three attempts per test.
• Complete 75 hours of supervised clinical practicum and successfully perform all required skills.
• Attend all classroom sessions.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Complete a TB test and physical before starting the course.

Responsibilities

• Complete 36–40 hours of classroom instruction and pass each classroom test with a score of at least 80%, with up to three attempts per test.
• Complete 75 hours of supervised practicum at a long-term care facility and successfully perform all required skills.
• Attend all classroom sessions and the first 16 hours of practicum; absence during the first 16 practicum hours results in dismissal from the program.
• Demonstrate and obtain sign-off for all required skills on the RCP checklists, and submit the completed checklist at the end of clinical training.
• Complete the clinical sign-in record daily with the date, actual hours worked, student signature, and licensed supervisor’s countersignature.
• Pass a criminal background check and complete a TB test and physical before starting the course.
• Pass the state exam to become a Certified Nurse’s Aide.
