About The Position

ASC provides a free Nurse Aide Training Program for people interested in becoming Certified Nursing Assistants. No previous experience is required; participants need a commitment to providing compassionate care to residents. The program combines classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training over two weeks, with support from ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs. After completing the program and testing, participants can apply for positions at ASC communities across Indiana. Further nursing-career pathways are available.

Requirements

• No previous experience is required.
• Commitment to providing compassionate care to residents.
• Complete the two-week training program, including 30 hours of classroom work and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, and complete testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, brushing teeth, and shaving.
• Help residents during mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
• Reposition and transfer residents between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
• Obtain and record resident vital signs and observations.
• Respond to patient call lights and fulfill resident requests.
• Build meaningful relationships with residents by providing care and companionship.
